A reimagined book cover for the fictional novel Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee by Meera Syal. It tells the story of three childhood friends, Chila, Sunita, and Tania. It's a hilarious, thoughtful, and moving novel about friendship, marriage, and betrayal. I was inspired by the themes of childhood and the playful tone of voice of the author.
The narrative of the novel is layered, personal, and often continuous.

The technique used here was achieved using layers of oil pastel colors and a scraping tool to reveal the colors underneath. The outcome represents the layers and nuances present in the narrative in a playful way. The contrast between the vibrant colors and black echos the contrasting nature of events in the story; some cheerful, some bleak.
